Steps to fix the [APPROVE] key not working correctly.

Usually when the [APPROVE] no longer works it is due to SOFT KEY assignment problems.  (I.E. you or someone messed up and assigned the [APPROVE] key to something other than approve)

This is easy to do.  Here’s how you probably got there.   You wanted to assign a key for some new product or menu, you went to soft key file, made you change, exited out.  Now when you hit [APPROVE] either it asks you for an amount or it brings up some menu etc.  something other than it used to.

If it works as [APPROVE] some of the time you only reassigned half of the double sized [APPROVE] key.

Here’s the fix.

Get into [MANAGER] screen, go over to SOFT KEY.  Go into SOFT KEY but do not hit ANYTHING yet!

The next key you hit is the key you are wanting to assign, this is where the mistake is usually made.  By default the Ruby till will be set on soft key 001.  (this is the left side of your [APPROVE] key)

IF YOU HIT ANY KEYS (OTHER THAN NUMBER KEYS) IT WILL CHANGE THE KEY YOUR MODIFYING.

YOUR SCREEN SHOULD SAY
Soft key #001 ( APPROVE) Choice: 33

1. PLU 3. MOP 5. Combo

2. Dept 4. Menu 6. Other Keys

It probably does not though.  This is the problem.

NOW  IF IT IS STILL ON SOFT KEY 001 HIT NUMBER 6 TO SELECT “OTHER KEYS”

AFTER YOU DO THIS YOU THEN PRESS THE ARROW KEYS UNTIL YOU GET TO “APPROVE” WHICH IS NUMBER 33.  HIT ENTER.   YOU SHOULD BE BACK TO THE SCREEN
Soft key #001 ( APPROVE) Choice: 33

1. PLU 3. MOP 5. Combo

2. Dept 4. Menu 6. Other Keys

NOW  IT SHOULD LOOK LIKE THIS.

You can check the other side of the [APPROVE] key by hitting the right side of it.  Then your screen should look like this
Soft key #002 ( APPROVE) Choice: 33

1. PLU 3. MOP 5. Combo

2. Dept 4. Menu 6. Other Keys
If it does not follow the same steps as for the left side.  Once your done, back out and it should work.
